Raw apple nachos
This messy treat is a new favorite of mine, I love the mix of the fresh crisp apples and the more indulgent and heavy chocolate and caramel sauce, such a perfect combo! The best part is that it is actually all healthy – in moderation of course – and completely raw!
I know I am yet again abusing food terminology a bit with this one, but “apple nachos” is what I have seen variations of this snack called everywhere else, so I am just going to roll with it ;) As the name might seem a bit misleading let me just make it clear that there is no cheese involved in the making of these raw nachos, it is simply apple slices drizzled with homemade raw chocolate sauce and raw caramel sauce + topped with chopped nuts and dark chocolate, so good!
Simply melt the coconut oil on low heat (I just placed the bowl in warm water) and whisk in the cacao and syrup.
Simply add all the ingredients to a mini food chopper or food processor and pulse until smooth.
Start by making the chocolate and caramel sauce as described above. Then chop a small handful almonds and hazelnuts and a couple of squares of 70% dark chocolate. Slice two apples and place them closely on a tray, plate etc. and drizzle them with the chocolate and caramel sauce – I just used a spoon to drizzle on the chocolate sauce, but I placed the caramel in a a plastic bag and cut a small hole in the corner to easily add the caramel sauce. To finish it off I topped the apples with the chopped nuts and chocolate, enjoy!
