Simple homemade Christmas gingerbread cookie spice mix

I am working on a bunch of new Christmas recipes for you guys and I actually already have so many lined up and ready to go, but first I want to share this super simple homemade spice mix with you as it will be helpful in many of my upcoming recipes. It is super easy to make and you can easily adjust the spices to make your very own Christmas mix to use in all your Christmas baking ♥

You can for example use the spice mix when baking my favorite gingerbread cookies or when you make these beyond delicious gingerbread waffles, they are one of my favorite Christmas recipes!

4 tablespoons cinnamon
4 tablespoons ground ginger
2 tablespoons ground cloves
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
1/2 tablespoon ground star anise – optional

If you use store-bought ground spices, then simply mix everything together – make sure to adjust the amounts to your liking  – and store the spice mix in an airtight jar. I often just do this, but if you want the spice mix to be as fragrant and flavorful as possible, then I can really recommend that you grind the spices yourself. It is a bit more work, but the result is so worth it. Enjoy ♥
