Homemade foodie gifts – updated version

Homemade foodie gifts - updated versionMorning lovelies! Christmas is almost here and I am so excited! Later today my sister and I are going to our parents place for the Christmas holidays and I just cannot wait! I love spending time with my family and I have planned to watch Christmas movies in front of the fireplace, cuddle with the cats, bake lots of Christmas treats, go for long walks in the woods, to eat lots of good food and to just enjoy the company of my family and all of our Christmas traditions ❤︎

One of my personal Christmas traditions is to make homemade gifts for my family and friends to bring as host/hostess gifts or as extra (and more personal) christmas gifts in addition to the store-bought ones, but also just to bring as little surprises during december – I love to bring unexpected gifts!

Homemade foodie gifts can be a little difficult though since they usually do not keep for long and some of them needs to be stored in the fridge, so keep that in mind when choosing what to make and when to make it. I usually make most of my gifts the day before I plan on giving them, but some of them I make more in advance – things like my peppermint hot chocolate mix, superfood sprinkle and homemade beauty products can easily be made a week ahead.

One of my favorite things to make for my family and friends are bliss balls, healthified treats and granola bars! Most of them absolutely loves the recipes (haha can’t win ’em all though), even some of the otherwise super picky eaters that do not like healthy foods at all. My absolute favorite recipe is for my chocolate hazelnut “nutella” balls, they are always a big hit when I have guests over and it is also one of the most popular recipes on the blog. This is the treat I usually choose to give with most of my gifts as everyone seems to love them – and in the spirit of Christmas and the holidays I think it will be fitting to choose one of the more indulgent treats ;)

I have collected a bunch of different recipes below that I think will be perfect to give as gifts, most of them are made with healthy ingredients, but some are more indulgent than others. I hope you will find the perfect recipes for your loved ones :)

I like to use a bunch of different coatings to make my treats look even more festive, some are quite flavorful though, so try to match the flavors of the coatings with the flavor of the treats. For a green coating you can use chopped pistachios and green superfood powders like wheatgrass. For the the pink coating you can use freeze dried berries that you give quick blend to turn it into powder or you can just buy it in powder form, I used raspberry for mine. For a light pink coating you can mix freeze dried berries and shredded coconut and give it a quick blend. For the white coating use shredded coconut. For the brown coating use raw cacao powder, chopped chocolate or cacao nibs. You can also coat your treats in chopped nuts, goji berries, chia seeds etc.

Homemade granola is another favourite of mine when it comes to homemade gifts. It is super easy to make, tastes absolutely amazing and it is usually a lot healthier than the store bought kinds + now you can customise it completely and make it with the receiver’s favourite ingredients and flavour combos. This gift is perfect for those who loves to top their morning yoghurt, smoothie bowls etc. with granola, but do not have the time or simply do not know how to make make their own. I like to add a little card where I write the recipe, so that they can try to make it again on their own if they enjoyed the recipe.

Below you can find the links to some of my favourite granola recipes on the blog, some are super healthy while others are a bit more indulgent – it is all about finding the right kind of granola for the person you are giving it to. Are they health nuts or a bit more relaxed with their diet? I think you will be able to find a recipe for everyone :)

This superfood sprinkle is one of my absolute favorites! It is beyond easy to make, tastes amazing and it makes a great gift for your health conscious loved ones. With this superfood mix you have a quick and easy, but super nutricious topping for smoothie bowls, yoghurts, salads etc.

To make the superfood sprinkle I simply mixed chia seeds, goji berries, ground flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, raw coconut chips, acai powder, chopped pistachios, chopped almonds, chopped dried apricots, dried mulberries and cacao nibs.

Homemade natural beauty products
This year I am gifting a selection of different homemade beauty products as well, some of them can be made with things found in your cabinets (prefect now that I am so late with this post!) while others will probably call for a trip to your local health store – I usually buy everything online, buuut there isn’t really time for that with only two days left to Christmas, I promise I will be in better time next year!

4th Advent Christmas giveaway + winner from last week

dsc_8641-1
Hi lovelies, a belated happy 4th Advent Sunday! I am so sorry that my 4th and final Christmas giveaway is a day late – sometimes life just happens and I sadly wasn’t able to get the post up in time, buuut to make up for it I have added a little extra present (not pictured) for both this weeks and last weeks giveaway to make up for it ;) Anyways, it is finally time to reveal the winner of last week’s giveaway + to kick off this week’s new Advent giveaway! I can recommend reading the 1st Advent post (find it right here!) for those of you who are not familiar with Advent – most of you guys leaving comments on the post celebrate Advent as well though, I was a bit surprised that it is celebrated in so many different countries :D

Anyway’s, let’s get to it! The winner of last weeks giveaway is Anne K, congratulations! I really hope you will love the gifts as much as I do. I will send you an email right away, so I can get your presents on their way to you asap ❤︎

And it is time to kick off this weeks giveaway as well! The concept is the same as with the previous giveaways, I have once again chosen some of my favorite superfoods and foodie items + a non food related item that I thought you lovelies would love as well. I have chosen to buy everything myself instead of getting companies to sponsor it, as I want it to be personal and heartfelt instead being about promoting different brands and such. Haha and I of course gift wrapped everything myself, which is very easy to see as my gift wrapping skills are the same as a 5 year olds – but it is wrapped with love, that is all that counts right?! ;) I know that you are usually able to see the contents of a giveaway before you enter it, but I thought it would be so much fun with gift wrapped items so the winner doesn’t know the contents of the gift until they unwrap them – just like any regular gifts one receives! ❤︎

All you have to do to participate in my advent giveaway is to leave a comment on this post – it does not have to be a long comment, one simple word or smiley etc. is enough, but I would love to know how (and if) you are going to celebrate Christmas? The giveaways are of course open to all, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. Personally I always celebrate Christmas in my childhood home with my parents, little sister and our 3 cats + we take turns to either celebrate it with my mothers or fathers side of the family. We always celebrate it at our parents house because there is room for the biggest Christmas tree, haha and my mother is strangely obsessed with having the tallest and biggest Christmas tree possible. The family usually get together in the early afternoon on the 24th (my sister and I usually go there on the 22nd though) to start cooking, baking, watching Christmas movies + of course the Disney Christmas show and to decorate the tree. In the evening we enjoy a big traditional Christmas feast, dance around the Christmas tree while singing Christmas carols (haha I think only danes do the whole dancing around the tree thing), open presents and then just spend the rest of the night enjoying each others company, talking, eating treats and looking at presents  ❤︎

So to sum it up All you have to do to participate in my advent giveaway is to leave a comment on this post – it does not have to be a long comment, one simple word or smiley etc. is enough, but I would love to know how (and if) you are going to celebrate Christmas? The giveaways are of course open to all, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. Comments do not appear until I have moderated them, so please do not leave multiple comments. The giveaway is of course international! I will pick a winner on Christmas morning the 25th of december. Good luck lovelies

Popcorn with dark chocolate and peanut butter

Popcorn with dark chocolate and peanut butter Popcorn with dark chocolate and peanut butterThese beyond delicious chocolate and peanut butter covered popcorn are one of my new go-to’s for a quick and easy treat. They can be a little bit messy, but I promise you that it is worth it!

The popcorn only takes 5 minutes to make, are beyond delicious and are still on the healthier side when it comes to treats, so there is really no excuse not to give these yummy indulgent popcorn a try! ;)

Make sure to try my coconut sugar caramel popcorn as well + find many more recipes for treats right here!

Popcorn with dark chocolate and peanut butter
Popcorn with dark chocolate and peanut butter Ingredients:
1/2 deciliter (about 0.2 cup) organic corn kernels
1 tablespoon coconut oil

1/2 deciliter (about 0.2 cup) chopped dark chocolate (I used one with 70% cacao)
1 tablespoon peanut butter
Sea salt to taste

Popcorn with dark chocolate and peanut butter Directions:
Start by melting the coconut oil in a large pot on high heat. When the coconut oil is melted and the pot is hot, then you can add the corn kernels as well, top it with the lid and wait for the corn to start popping. Once the kernels starts popping make sure to vigorously shake the pot back and forth over the stove to ensure that you are not burning any kernels, this will allow the already popped kernels to float to the top. Continue to do this until all kernels have popped. When it is done take the pot off the heat, pour the popcorn onto a baking tray and set it aside.

Melt the dark chocolate and the peanut butter (separately) in a warm water bath and drizzle the popcorn with it + sea salt to taste. Allow the chocolate to set before serving. Enjoy!

missmarzipan_nutbutter_truffle_bites41
Hi Lovelies, I hope you are enjoying your weekend? I am definitely enjoying mine, I am recipe testing and baking like crazy, but in a cozy non-stressful way unlike some other weekends ;) I am working on a couple new recipes for Christmas treats, but to be honest they are not quite there yet, so instead I have found some gorgeous Christmas treats around the web that I thought you guys would love – I cannot wait to try them myself!

First up we have these amazing nut butter brownie truffle bites (plant-based, gluten-free & low-fructose) by the sweetest Marisa aka. Miss Marzipan. Marisa is one of my favorite bloggers/instagrammers,, her sense of aesthetics is always on point and her recipes are beyond delicious – I cannot wait to give this one a try, I think I will make it for my family when I go home for Christmas ❤︎

How amazing does this gingerbread cake with caramel cream cheese buttercream look?! It is of course by the insanely talented Tieghan from Half Baked Harvest, she always manages to impress and inspire me with her absolutely gorgeous creations. I rarely find the courage to give her elaborate cake recipes a try (I am still so new to baking), but I will definitely give the cupcake version as go :D

I already have a favorite recipe for gingerbread cookies, but it isn’t exactly anywhere near being healthy and nutritious, so I would love to give these vegan & gluten-free Gingerbread cookies by Pauline from Living the healthy choice a try. Not that I am planning an all healthy Christmas (at all!), I just love to indulge in both the naughty and the healthier treats during the holidays – haha balance right? ;) With these cute healthified gingerbread cookies I think I would have it all covered, definitely a must try!
